Birth Control Pills Are Still Linked to Breast Cancer
A study which monitored 1.8 million Dutch women over the course of a decade has confirmed that birth control pills cause a significant increase in the risk for breast cancer. They estimate for every 100,000 women, hormone contraceptive causes an addition 13 cases of breast cancer every year. So for every 100,000 women using birth control, there are 68 cases of breast cancer annually, compared to the 55 cases a year for nonusers. This study was meant to examine the risks associated with the current formulations of birth control pills and devices in a large population. The study proved that nothing is risk-free, and hormonal contraceptives are no exception to this rule.
